MLP team update
Welcome to the latest edition of your MLP team update.
The past few months have been incredibly busy and filled with exciting news!
From creepy Halloween-themed art and exotic holidays to birthday celebrations and garden improvements, read on to catch up on everything that's been happening at MLP.
We commissioned a spooky window painting for Halloween
Last month, in celebration of Halloween, we commissioned a local artist to create a spooky window display.
This project was part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local talent and bringing a bit of seasonal fun to the neighbourhood.
And it’s been great to see the community enjoying the artwork! The response from passersby was wonderful – many stopped to take photos and share their positive feedback, adding a spark of joy (or fright!) to their day.
We were delighted with how the painting turned out! What do you think?
Claire and James have embarked on exciting adventures to distant and exotic destinations
Last month, two members of our team set off on incredible journeys to distant and exciting destinations.
James, one of our Advisers, travelled to his mother’s homeland of Japan, with a bonus visit to South Korea on the way!
After a few days exploring the vibrant city of Seoul, he reunited with family in Osaka and indulged in the culinary delights of local markets and restaurants. From there, he joined friends on Ishigaki Island, enjoying laid-back days on the beach surrounded by stunning coastal scenery.
A seasoned visitor to Japan, James insists it’s a must-see destination for everyone and that it offers an experience like no other.
Meanwhile, Claire, one of our Adviser Supporters, journeyed south to Kenya.
She travelled across the country, immersing herself in safari adventures, where she encountered lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and more.
A regular volunteer in Africa, Claire embraced the chance to revisit the continent, exploring its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife.
You can read more about James’ escapades in Japan and Claire’s adventures in Kenya in the travel blogs they each wrote for us.
These trips have inspired us all, reminding us of the enriching experiences travel can bring!
We celebrated Louise’s birthday
We recently celebrated Louise’s birthday, though she has firmly requested that the exact number of candles on the cake remains a tightly kept secret!
Louise, an essential part of our Adviser Support team, was treated to a card, a delicious cake, and her personal favourite – a bottle of Glengoyne whiskey.
We discovered at last year’s Christmas party that Louise is a whiskey lover, and let’s just say, we all remember her enthusiastic toasts and dancing that night!
Her husband, however, may not be quite as thrilled with our choice... we’re sure he remembers how lively last year’s festivities got when the Glengoyne was flowing!
Here’s to you, Louise, and many more years of celebrations!
Seán updated our office planters
After the somewhat gloomy Autumn Budget, Seán decided to brighten up the week by refreshing the planters outside the MLP office, adding a touch of colour and warmth to lift spirits.
It was heartening to see so many locals stopping by to compliment the new look, with two clients even popping in to personally share their appreciation.
This is the less glamorous side of running a small business – sometimes, you’ve got to roll up your sleeves and handle the dirty work yourself.
But maintaining a welcoming image and staying engaged with the local community are all part of building connections that go beyond business.
Two platforms we use ranked highly in the latest evaluations of Managed Portfolio Services (MPS)
As independent Chartered Financial Planners, our priority is to deliver genuine value to you, our clients. This commitment drives everything we do, from investment performance to personalised financial advice.
While some of the largest investment providers are widely recognised, they don't always pass our rigorous screening.
So, it was especially rewarding to see our research recently validated by Citywire, which recognised two providers we use.
Quilter's MPS ranked as the top performer among the 10 largest MPS providers in the country – an amazing achievement and a testament to their ongoing incredible work.
Waverton ranks as the 11th largest provider, so it wasn’t included in the list of the top 10. However, when looking beyond the top 10, Waverton emerged as the leader, topping the rankings over both one- and five-year periods.
The outstanding performances of both highlights their strong track records in the industry, and it’s fantastic to see their work being recognised.
Keep up the great work guys!

See you next time!
