MLP team update

Welcome to the latest edition of your MLP team update.

The past few months at MLP have been brimming with celebration, summer excitement, and industry success!

We've honoured the remarkable career of our longest-serving employee, celebrated our client platform's success at industry awards, enjoyed the respite of a different type of holiday, learned new lifesaving skills, and much more!

Read on to find out everything the MLP team has been up to in recent months.

Sue has been with us for an incredible 23 years

We want to say a huge thank you and show our love and appreciation for our longest-standing member of staff, the incredible Sue Chennell.

Sue joined MLP in 2001 and has been an invaluable member of the team for 23 years.

She is currently working part-time in our Adviser Support team as our Social Secretary, spending most of her time on business support, helping with project work and finances.

After all these years, Sue continues to embrace the rapid changes and challenges of the financial world with a laugh and a smile. She lifts everyone's spirits and brings joy to the MLP offices whenever she is around.

Outside of work, Sue is something of a culture vulture. She enjoys travelling, going to the theatre, and seeing live music. She believes you’re never too old to learn a new skill and has recently taken up church bell ringing!

To say thank you for her years of work and dedication, we gave Sue some West End theatre tickets as a present, and, of course, the obligatory anniversary balloons you can see in the picture.

The financial planning platform we use and recommend has won an industry award

Modern financial planning relies on a blend of skilled professionals and advanced technology. One of the key technological components is the platform used to interface with both clients and the market.

Quilter is a financial planning platform that we use and highly recommend to our clients.

It features a user-friendly portal where you and your adviser can easily view and manage your investments online.

We can't praise it enough, and it seems we're not alone, as Quilter recently won Best Platform at the Professional Paraplanner Awards, an honour voted on by experts in the finance industry.

Congratulations to Quilter! They can be sure to enjoy our continued use and support in the future.

We had a CPR first aid training day

While work and finances are important, they hold little value without good health.

At MLP Wealth Management, we prioritise health above all else, which is why we organised a CPR first aid training day for all our staff.

The session was led by Ciaran O’Sullivan who, as well as teaching us invaluable new skills, also shared inspiring real-life stories of how CPR training has been put to lifesaving use.

The team found CPR surprisingly simple and were amazed that just a few basic steps can empower you to resuscitate someone in an emergency.

The training not only equipped us with vital, potentially lifesaving skills, but it also fostered stronger team bonds.

It also neatly fits in with our business plan’s name – “Defib” – which you will be able to read a lot more about in the coming months.

Seán enjoyed a mountain holiday

Seán recently returned from a summer holiday with his family, and he cannot stop talking about what a wonderful time they had!

Seeking to avoid crowded beaches and the hustle and bustle of tourist hotspots, Seán and his family headed for the mountains, where they enjoyed peaceful hikes, cycle rides, and stunning vistas.

And Seán is now a full mountain holiday convert!

He and his family loved the feeling of being immersed in nature. The clean, fresh air was a welcome alternative to the hot sticky climate of a typical beach holiday, and it even meant they slept better at night.

There were plenty of activities for the kids to do and they were amazed at being able to drink fresh water straight from the mountain streams!

Seán was particularly grateful as on a previous holiday he counted a total of 89 mosquito bites – and that was just on the first night. This time, thankfully, there wasn’t a mosquito in sight.

The family felt energised and even creatively stimulated by their time up in the clouds, and the whole holiday was stress-free!

Seán has been singing the praises of mountain retreats ever since and is already planning the next one.

Come and join the MLP family, we’re hiring!

MLP is a family-run business, but we’re always looking to extend the wider MLP family and grow our team.

So, if you or someone you know is looking for a position in an award-winning wealth management company based in Surrey, take a look at the openings below.

· Trainee Financial Planner – we’re offering the rare chance to train to become a fully qualified adviser. With learning support and on-the-job experience, you will be in control of how quickly your route to qualification could take. You will be working alongside three experienced advisers and a trainee with a mentor programme in place.

· Paraplanner – we are hiring both trainee and experienced paraplanners to assist the financial planning team. With all our roles, there is always the potential to progress. And there is no need to travel to see clients, as all face-to-face meetings can be held in our fully equipped meeting rooms.
